Updated 10:44 a.m., Thursday, June 23, 2011

ABERDEEN, Wash. (AP) — Aberdeen may rename a bridge and park after Kurt Cobain, the rock musician who grew up there and went on to fame as the lead singer of the grunge band Nirvana.

The Aberdeen Park Board suggests the city rename the Young Street Bridge the Kurt Cobain Bridge. A small park next to the bridge would be called Kurt Cobain Landing.

KXRO reports Second Ward Councilwoman Alice Phelps said some people are likely to complain about renaming the bridge.

The public will have a chance to comment before any names are changed.
